Cathy Carlton

Mrs. Cathy Carlton

Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade Teacher

Cathy feels so blessed to teach the young learners at ACA.  It gives her great joy to see the students learn and grow each day. She earned a B.S. in elementary education from Auburn University.

She and her husband, a retired teacher, enjoy hiking and traveling. Their son, daughter-in-law, and precious three year old granddaughter live nearby, which makes them very happy! In her spare time, Cathy enjoys sewing and crafts. She is looking forward to learning with her students in the New Earth when Jesus comes.

Mrs. Becky Barclay

3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade Teacher

Becky's passion has been in teaching children for over thirty years. She is proud to be a staff member at Adventist Christian Academy. Living in North Carolina where there is a lot of history to be discovered is one of the most enjoyable things for her. Some of Becky's hobbies include reading, baking, hiking, biking, and recently ancestry research. The school mission statement, "We are followers of Jesus helping others follow Jesus," is what she works towards every day so the circle of school, home and Christ will be unbroken!

Terry Tryon

Mr. Terry Tryon

Principal

6th Grade, 7th Grade, and 8th Grade Head Teacher

Terry received a B.S. at Southern Missionary College in Elementary Education and has been a teacher for 37 years. He enjoys watching students grow to be the best they can be. He taught 25 years in California and the rest of the years in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Louisiana. All of his teaching has been in K-10th grade. Twelve years, he was a principal teaching in the upper grades. He includes STEM components in his classroom to help the students think outside the box. Some activities that the students have been included in were robotics, gardening, hover board building, mousetrap car building, rocket launching and hands on activities that included critical thinking. Watching students grow and excel in learning add a special part to his life. He has also worked at our Adventist summer camps for 23 summers helping children enjoy nature, God’s second book, and a closer walk with Jesus.

Hobbies he enjoys are spending time in nature, with family and with God. It is his hope and desire that each student who leaves his classroom will have an understanding that God has a special plan for their lives. He also hopes that they have a desire to impact change in their community. As the students learn and grow, they will seek knowledge and know that anything they set their minds to can be accomplished.

"Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:" Philippians 1:6
