MrsLucasMrs. Shelby Lucas

Kindergarten & 1st Grade Teacher

Shelby Lucas is our Kindergarten and First grade teacher. She has been with ACA since the Fall of 2019. She graduated with her Bachelor's in Education from Ottawa University in 2017. She has lived in Asheville, NC for the past 10 years. She is married to her best friend and has a two year old daughter. She is passionate about education and teaching. She loves to volunteer in her spare time with church functions and community events. Along with teaching, some of her other hobbies include painting, reading, hiking to a beautiful view, swimming, and playing with her daughter! In addition to being the homeroom teacher for Kindergarten and 1st grade, Mrs. Lucas also teaches 3rd & 4th grade Science, and Group Science on Fabulous Fridays.

Mrs. Lorraine 


Mrs. Lorraine Gonzalez

 2nd and 3rd Grade Teacher Assistant

  Mrs. Lorraine is our 2nd and 3rd Grade Teacher's Assistant. She has been with ACA since the fall of 2019. Mrs. Lorraine has a passion for service and is happy to serve the children of ACA. She is married and has grown children and grandchildren. Everyone loves Mrs. Lorraine!






Ms. Yvonne Smith

2nd & 3rd Grade Teacher

Ms. Yvonne Smith is our 2nd and 3rd grade teacher for ACA. She has her Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, and her Master's in Teaching with special emphasis in ESL instruction. Ms. Smith was born and raised in the great island of Jamaica, and has lived and worked in places such as West Palm Beach, and Orlando, FL since 2009. She joins us in the Fall of 2020. When she is planning for instruction, she prefers to think of the lessons as 'experiences' for the children, with lots of hands-on activities. Ms. Smith sees children as doors, behind each child is a room of learning and discovery! She likes to find the key to open each door and learn something special and unique in each student she teaches. In addition to being the 2nd & 3rd grade homeroom teacher, Ms. Smith also co-teaches K-3 Social Studies and 5th-8th Grade Science.

Dr. Misty Stein


4th, 5th, & 6th Grade Teacher

Say hello to Dr. Stein

Meet Dr. Misty Stein! She is the Principal/Teacher for Grades 4, 5, & 6. 
Dr. Stein was born in the Northwest and has lived all over, including: Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Texas, New Jersey, and Tennessee.
She received her Bachelors in General Studies with an emphasis on literature and psychology in 2004, her Masters in Elementary Education (MAED) with emphasis in curriculum and instruction in 2006, and her Doctorate (EdD) in Educational Leadership with dissertation- emphasis in early childhood behavior in 2013.
In addition to NC state certification for grades K-8, she is certified as an adjunct professor at NE State College, and holds both administrator and professional certification for grades K-8 with the Southern Union of Seventh-Day Adventists, with special accreditation in English and Literature, History, and Bible. She is the Carolina Conference Trainer for the Bible Encounter Curriculum and has served on the North American Division Educational Technology Committee, on the Curriculum and Instruction Committee, and maintained an active volunteer schedule in every place she’s lived. She is CPR/First Aid certified. She is also certified group fitness instructor.
She is married to her high-school sweetheart and has 2 teenagers. Her hobbies include: singing, playing/writing music on both guitar and piano, reading, motorcycle riding, board games, cooking (health nut/'nutritarian' recipes!), camping, horseback riding, puzzles, and bike riding. In addition to being the homeroom teacher to grades 4-6, Dr. Stein teaches K-2 Science and Group Music (including choir, handbells, and drum corps) on Fabulous Fridays.

Ms. Astrid Lizardo

7th & 8th Grade Teacher


Meet Ms. Lizardo! Ms. Lizardo is our 7th & 8th Grade Teacher. She has been with ACA since the Spring of 2020. She graduated in December, 2019 with her Bachelor's in Education. She is passionate about leadership, especially when it comes to the students and helping them reach their fullest potential.

In addition to her 7th and 8th grade homeroom, Ms. Lizardo co-teaches 5th-8th Grade Science, 4th-8th grade Social Studies, P.E., & Drama (including our puppet ministries program).

Mrs. Kellie Garrett

Principal's Aide & Technology

Meet Mrs. Kellie. Mrs. Kellie has been with ACA since the fall of 2019. She assists in the Principal's classroom in areas of instruction and classroom management. She is married and has two kids. She has a passion for education and loves each student as if they were her own. In addition to helping in the Principal's classroom, she teaches P.E., Art, and provides one-on-one assistance to any student who needs it. She also maintains our online academic records, and ACA's technology presence. Her hobbies include drawing, journalling, reading, exercise, and hanging out with her kids.

Mrs. Nathalie Jean-Louise

Administrative Assistant/Secretary & Assistant Treasurer

Meet Mrs. Nathalie. Mrs. Nathalie has been with ACA since the spring of 2019. Mrs. Nathalie is in charge of ACA communication. She maintains student records, oversees parent communication, co-leads our Home and School, acts as registrar, works as our Assistant Treasurer, and so much more! Mrs. Nathalie is married and has 3 children.
