Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade Teacher

Shelby Lucas is our new K-2nd grade teacher. She graduated with her Bachelor's in Education from Ottawa University in 2017. She has lived in Asheville, NC for the past 10 years. She is married to her best friend and has a one year old daughter. She is passionate about education and teaching. She loves to volunteer in her spare time with church functions and community events. Along with teaching, some of her other hobbies include painting, reading, hiking to a beautiful view, swimming, and playing with her daughter!

Mrs. Becky Barclay

3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade Teacher

Becky's passion has been in teaching children for over thirty years. She is proud to be a staff member at Adventist Christian Academy. Living in North Carolina where there is a lot of history to be discovered is one of the most enjoyable things for her. Some of Becky's hobbies include reading, baking, hiking, biking, and recently ancestry research. The school mission statement, "We are followers of Jesus helping others follow Jesus," is what she works towards every day so the circle of school, home and Christ will be unbroken!

Say hello to Mrs. Stein

Meet Dr. Misty Stein! She is our new Principal/Teacher for Grades 6-8 for the 2019/2020 School Year. 
Dr. Stein was born in the Northwest and has lived all over, including: Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Texas, New Jersey, and Tennessee.
She received her Bachelors in General Studies with an emphasis on literature and psychology in 2004, her Masters in Elementary Education (MAED) with emphasis in curriculum and instruction in 2006, and her Doctorate (EdD) in Educational Leadership with dissertation- emphasis in early childhood behavior in 2013.
In addition to NC state certification for grades K-8, she is certified as an adjunct professor at NE State College, and holds both administrator and professional certification for grades K-8 with the Southern Union of Seventh-Day Adventists, with special accreditation in English and Literature, History, and Bible. She is the Carolina Conference Trainer for the Bible Encounter Curriculum and has served on the North American Division Educational Technology Committee, on the Curriculum and Instruction Committee, and maintained an active volunteer schedule in every place she’s lived. She is CPR/First Aid certified. She also teaches group fitness classes at the YMCA.
She is married to her high-school sweetheart and has 2 teenage kids. Her hobbies include: singing, playing/writing music on both guitar and piano, reading, motorcycle riding, board games, cooking (health nut/'nutritarian' recipes!), camping, horseback riding, puzzles, and bike riding.
